Managem appoints Epiroc to modernise Tizert copper project in Morocco

Mining group Managem has appointed excavation equipment provider Epiroc to enhance safety and productivity at the Tizert copper project, in Morocco.
Epiroc will provide Managem with the necessary digital tools to modernise the operation and ensure efficiency and safety at the site.
Epiroc develops and provides innovative and safe equipment, such as drill rigs, rock excavation and construction equipment and tools for surface and underground applications.
The company also offers world-class service and other aftermarket support, as well as solutions for automation, digitalization and electrification.
Managem plans to develop Tizert into the largest underground mining operation in the region, producing 3.6-million tonnes of copper a year.
To fully harness the project’s potential, Managem envisions a modern digitalised greenfield copper mine, leveraging advanced technologies to ensure optimised production and enhanced safety.
In turn, Epiroc’s solutions comprise real-time tracking of vehicles and personnel with hardware tags, emergency support, automated event-based processes and planning/overview systems, and data integration toe ensure smooth real-time data flow.
"Our modular and scalable solutions meet Managem’s immediate needs, while allowing for future growth as the Tizert project expands and we are happy to support the project further," says Epiroc regional digital business manager Pelin Kocak.
