Kenya’s Leta Raises $5M to Transform African Logistics with AI-Powered Platform

The funding round was led by European venture capital firm Speedinvest, with additional backing from Google’s Africa Investment Fund and Equator, a climate-focused tech fund supporting innovations across the continent.
Founded in 2021 by CEO Nick Joshi, Nairobi-based Leta integrates with enterprise resource planning (ERP), point-of-sale (POS), and order management systems (OMS) to access real-time order data. Leveraging artificial intelligence, the platform automates dispatch planning, enhances vehicle utilisation, and dynamically refines delivery routes in response to live traffic and road conditions.
Following a successful $3 million pre-seed round in 2022, Leta has expanded operations from Kenya into Uganda, Nigeria, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Its managed fleet has grown from 2,000 to 7,400 vehicles, completing 4.5 million deliveries and transporting over 150,000 tonnes of goods. The platform is used by major clients including KFC, Diageo, and Fargo Courier.
The latest funding will support further product development and geographic expansion, with plans to launch in Rwanda and Mauritius. Leta’s technology is particularly impactful in African markets, where logistics can account for up to 70% of the cost of goods sold, according to Speedinvest partner Deepali Nangia.
“Leta is driving a fundamental shift in how goods are moved across Africa,” said Nangia. “Their AI-powered solution delivers measurable efficiency gains for top FMCG brands.”
With its mission to make logistics smarter, greener, and more affordable, Leta is positioning itself at the forefront of Africa’s digital transformation in transportation. The company’s AI-led innovations are reshaping the logistics ecosystem—paving the way for faster, cheaper, and more sustainable delivery networks across the continent.
