Emirates SkyCargo champions Africa’s growth story with innovative logistics solutions

Emirates SkyCargo, has reaffirmed its commitment to enabling African businesses to access global markets with efficiency and trust, highlighting the continent’s immense potential as a key driver of global trade. 

 Speaking to Journalists in Nairobi, the Divisional Senior Vice President of Emirates SkyCargo, Badr Abbas, emphasized the carrier’s role in connecting Africa to the world through its extensive network and innovative solutions.

 “Africa represents the heartbeat of global trade, with immense potential and untapped opportunities. We are committed to enabling the continent’s businesses to reach global markets with efficiency and trust,” Mr Abbas stated. 

 He revealed that Emirates SkyCargo, uplifts an average of 3,820 tonnes of cargo weekly from Africa, underscoring the high demand for its services. 

 The carrier leverages its entire fleet, including dedicated freighters and the belly-hold capacity of Emirates’ passenger aircraft, to ensure the swift and reliable movement of goods. 

  With 172 weekly passenger flights and eight scheduled freighters serving the continent, Emirates SkyCargo provides seamless connectivity for African businesses. 

 Additionally, the company employs a robust trucking system to move general cargo between key African cities, such as Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban, ensuring goods are delivered on customers’ timelines.

 Mr Abbas, highlighted the importance of investing in infrastructure and fostering partnerships to meet the unique needs of African industries. 

 “By investing in infrastructure, fostering partnerships, and understanding the unique needs of African industries, we are not just adapting we are championing Africa’s growth story and building bridges to connect its vibrant markets to the rest of the world,” Mr Abbas said. 

 He reiterated that Emirates SkyCargo’s specialist product portfolio, all-widebody fleet, and extensive global network have remained in high demand throughout the year. 

 Mr Abbas, stated that the growth in tonnage reflects the trust customers place in the carrier and the strength of its vision, saying that to sustain this momentum, the company’s commitment to innovation, expansion, and anticipating market needs. 

 He noted that one example of Emirates SkyCargo’s customer-centric approach is its Emirates Vital product, designed to transport life-saving healthcare cargo.

 “The future of medicine is in personalized treatments engineered to be patient-specific. As these treatments become more specialized, they also become more priceless and harder to replace, meaning there can be no mistakes when transporting them from doctor to patient,” he explained. 

 Mr Abbas pointed out that Emirates Vital was developed in coordination with customers to address these challenges, ensuring the safe and reliable transport of critical healthcare goods. 

 He reiterated the company’s mission to solve customers’ transportation challenges, whether they involve life-saving healthcare cargo, high-value consumer tech goods, or temperature-sensitive fresh produce. 

 “Our specialized product portfolio has a fit-for-purpose solution to move goods quickly, efficiently, and reliably. We will continue to consult with customers to create solutions that transport even the most delicate of cargo,” he said. 

 Mr Abbas stated that with its innovative approach and unwavering commitment to customer needs, Emirates SkyCargo is poised to remain a trusted partner for businesses worldwide, driving Africa’s growth and connecting its markets to the global economy.
