Tanzania’s Kinusi Mine to Start Trial Shipments in December 2024

By:Energycapitalpower

Mining and development company Marula Mining has announced plans to begin trial copper shipments from the Kinusi Mine in Tanzania by 31 December, 2024. Following the completion of array results from ore sampling, the shipments will be finalized with 1,000 tons of copper supplied to four global commodity trading firms.

Currently, Marula Mining is awaiting the results of copper ore samples. The samples are being analyzed by South African metallurgical consultants, with results expected by Q1, 2025. The company will use the results to kickstart Phase 1 of the project. The initial phase targets the production of 24,000 tons per annum (tpa) of copper while the Phase 2 program aims to produce 10,200 tpa.

Jason Brewer, Marula Mining PLC CEO, stated that “the company’s focus remains on advancing Kinusi’s mining and processing operations in line with its two-phase development plan while meeting its timeline for the initial trial shipments and sales.”
