Russia and Sudan Begin Talks On Gold Mining and Use of Ports

The use of seaports as a “gateway to Africa” is also being discussed. Government sources told Sudan Tribune reporters.
“The gold mining arrangements will help offset significant revenue losses, cut wartime spending, support the falling Sudanese pound and cope with resource shortages,” the publication writes.
In addition to gold mining, Russia is interested in investing in Sudan’s ports. Sudan Tribune writes that Russian ambassador Andrey Chernovol reported that some businessmen want to create a Sudanese-Russian business center and logistics hub.
Earlier, Bloomberg claimed that the East African country was strengthening ties with Moscow due to the Russian Federation’s support for the Sudanese army in the conflict with the Rapid Reaction Force.
