ENDIAMA and Japanese Komatsu Sign $25.8 Million Agreement

The contract established between Endiama and Komatsu aligns with the Angolan state-owned mining company’s strategy to modernize and strengthen its operational capacity, aiming at the acquisition and implementation of specialized mobile equipment for waste removal in diamond mining.

The National Diamond Company of Angola (ENDIAMA-E.P) signed yet another financing agreement with Komatsu—a Japanese multinational specializing in the manufacture of heavy equipment for the construction, mining, forestry, and industrial sectors—this Wednesday (06) in Cape Town, South Africa, through the Portuguese company Cimertex.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of Mining Indaba, Africa’s largest mining event, which took place from the 3rd to the 6th of this month at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

Initially, the acquired assets will be directed to the Endiama Mining subsidiary and the Sociedade Mineira do Calonda, strengthening diamond extraction and processing operations. In a second phase, the equipment will be allocated to the Luachimba mine in Lunda Norte province, expanding the mining complex’s logistical and operational capacity.

This operation is part of a broader effort to restructure ENDIAMA’s productive assets—an approach focused on operational efficiency, sustainability, and the global competitiveness of Angola’s mining sector.

The agreement was formalized by high-level representatives of the involved entities. On behalf of ENDIAMA, it was signed by Chairman of the Board José Manuel Ganga Júnior, alongside Executive Director Ana Feijó.

Representing Komatsu, the signing was carried out by Tanguy Van Uytvanck, Head of Finance for the African region, whose presence highlights the national market’s importance to the Japanese multinational.

The event also featured the participation of Miguel Oliveira, CEO of Cimertex, a company that plays a crucial role in facilitating and providing technical-operational support for this collaboration, strengthening the connection between the various stakeholders in the mining sector.

Investing in African Mining Indaba is an annual conference held in Cape Town, South Africa, dedicated to capitalizing and successfully developing mining interests in Africa. Established in 1994, it has become a key event for mining professionals, investors, and industry leaders seeking to explore the vast opportunities in Africa’s mining sector.
