Mauritius Hosts SolarX Accelerator to Boost APAC and African Startups in Renewable Sector

By:Solarquarter.com

Business Mauritius (BM), in collaboration with the International Solar Alliance (ISA), inaugurated the two-day SolarX Accelerator Programme in Mauritius today, bringing together 35 startups from Asia, India, and the broader APAC region to accelerate the development of scalable and cost-effective solar energy innovations.

Launched with the goal of supporting and mentoring renewable energy startups, the SolarX Accelerator is designed to fast-track innovative clean energy solutions through mentorship, funding access, and strategic networking.

“This programme puts the spotlight on three top priorities of the Mauritian business community — energy transition, innovation, and market expansion across the continent,” said Kevin Ramkaloan, CEO of Business Mauritius. “We’re proud to welcome entrepreneurs from across the globe and thank our local partners and public institutions for presenting the Mauritius advantage to these future change-makers.”

The initiative marks a significant step in the region’s clean energy transition, especially as developing countries have witnessed a 20% decline in clean-tech solar investments over the past year. SolarX, which was first introduced in Africa and later extended to the APAC region, aims to reverse this trend by connecting solar-focused entrepreneurs with investors, providing tailored mentorship and business scaling support.
