Lennox takes over lead of Orion Minerals as Smart steps down

By:Miningweekly

JSE-listed copper mining company Orion Minerals CEO and MD Errol Smart has stepped down from his roles effective April 3.

He is succeeded by Anthony Lennox, who has been a nonexecutive director of the company.

Smart led the business through the acquisition of both its Prieska copper and zinc and Okiep copper projects in South Africa, as well as advancing the projects to definitive feasibility stage and towards permitting and financing stage.

Lennox has more than 40 years of experience in the construction, development and operation of large-scale mining projects, having held multiple executive leadership roles across various international jurisdictions.

Lennox will work closely with the board and the executive team to maintain Orion’s existing strategic momentum and oversee its imminent transition from project developer to operating mining company.
