Kenya-Tanzania Transmission Line Begins Trial Operations

With a capacity of 2,000 MW, this subsequent phase features a transmission line connecting Kenya and Tanzania.
The milestone follows the completion of the first phase of the project – the Ethiopia-Kenya Transmission line – which now delivers 200 MW of power.
These two transmission lines are expected to generate up to $200 million in annual power trade, enabling Kenya and Tanzania to capitalize on Ethiopia’s significant power generation potential.
Meanwhile, plans are underway to extend the project to South Sudan, with technical work currently in progress to evaluate the feasibility of developing the relevant transmission infrastructure.
