Ivorian Refining Company to Launch Energy Transition Strategy

Ivorian oil refinery company Société Ivoirienne de Raffinage (SIR) has announced it will initiate an energy transition study to reduce carbon emissions from Ivory Coast’s energy industry.
The energy transition strategy aims to implement new standards for development and improve energy efficiency at Ivory Coast’s sole refinery. In addition to adapting production to meet global ESG standards, the study will also develop on- and offshore logistics and drive sustainable growth in the country’s energy sector.
“In order to respond to this new vision, we are going to base this strategy on three pillars: safety, governance and economic viability,” stated Raphaël Souanga, Director of Development and Energy Transition at SIR in Cape Town this week.
SIR aims to start the study this month. After which, the company will submit a transition plan to its board of directors for approval.
