Egyptian-Saudi Talks Focus on Strategies to Promote Mutual Energy Interests

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi held a meeting with Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Energy, where they discussed the ongoing efforts to develop energy bilateral cooperation.
The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Saudi Ministry of Energy in Riyadh. The two ministers addressed a joint cooperation initiative aimed at enhancing energy efficiency in Egypt while leveraging Saudi expertise in this area.
The initiative is anticipated to launch once the working teams from both countries finalize the details.
This follows extensive discussions held last month in Cairo, organized by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and involving specialists from the Ministries of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Electricity and Renewable Energy, as well as experts from the Saudi Ministry of Energy, the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center, and the Saudi TARSHID company.
During the meeting Badawi explained that the past period witnessed the deepening of Egyptian-Saudi cooperation in the field of energy.
He also highlighted that this reflects expanding collaboration in improving energy efficiency in Egypt, which is one of the most important means of preserving energy resources and reducing the fuel import bill; in addition to the environmental gains by reducing carbon emissions.
