Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Energy, Mines, and Renewable Energies, Mohamed Arkab, held talks on Monday with Djibouti’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Younis Ali Guedi, the Algerian Ministry of Energy and Mines said in a statement.

The talks took place on the sidelines of a ministerial session themed “Policies and Reforms for Transforming the Energy Sector in Africa” in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between the two countries in the fields of energy, mining, and renewable energy, as well as exploring investment opportunities across all stages of the hydrocarbons value chain. They also explored ways to exchange expertise and provide training between Sonatrach and the International Hydrocarbons Company of Djibouti, in line with the Memorandum of Understanding signed in March 2023 between the two countries on energy and mining.

The talks also covered potential cooperation and investment in electricity generation and transmission, as well as in maintenance, training, and knowledge sharing between Sonelgaz and the Djiboutian company, the statement added.

Additionally, the discussions highlighted significant opportunities for collaboration and investment in petroleum storage and distribution, as well as in geological and mining research and expertise exchange.
