Abu Dhabi Forum Gathers Experts to Shape Energy Future

The Department of Energy (DoE) recently hosted the Abu Dhabi Energy and Water Forum, bringing together senior officials and representatives from various government and private sector organisations. The event aimed to foster collaboration and innovation in the energy and water sectors.
Key participants included the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA), Masdar, Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC), and several governmental bodies. The forum was designed as a platform to support communication and cooperation among stakeholders, aligning with the Abu Dhabi Energy and Water Strategy 2050.
H.E. Dr. Abdulla Humaid Al Jarwan, DoE Chairman, emphasised the forum’s role in promoting dialogue to develop sustainable solutions for energy and water supply security and economic growth. He noted Abu Dhabi’s progress in the sector, highlighting the shift towards renewable energy and the increasing use of reverse osmosis technology for water desalination.
DoE Chairman said, “This forum serves as a crucial new platform organised by the Department to support communication and cooperation among key stakeholders in the sector, aligning with our endeavours to realize the objectives of the Abu Dhabi Energy and Water Strategy 2050.”
The forum addressed the expected rise in electricity and water demand, with discussions on innovative technological solutions and digital transformation. The DoE committed to regulating the sector to meet future needs, aiming for carbon neutrality by 2050.
H.E. Eng. Ahmed Mohammed Al Rumaithi, DoE Undersecretary, highlighted the forum’s contribution to Abu Dhabi’s status as a global hub for energy and water. He stressed the importance of sharing expertise to balance economic growth with environmental sustainability.
Key industry leaders, including Jasim Husain Thabet of TAQA and Mohammed Jameel Al Ramahi of Masdar, echoed the forum’s significance in advancing clean energy solutions and achieving the objectives of the Abu Dhabi Energy and Water Strategy 2050.
H.E. Dr Shaikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary General of the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, highlighted efforts to reduce carbon emissions and enhance resilience through AI technologies and water management initiatives.
Secretary General of the Environment Agency said, “This forum serves as a platform that brings together stakeholders from the energy and water sectors, fostering collaboration and spotlighting best government practices to ensure a more sustainable and prosperous future for generations to come.”
The forum featured workshops focusing on themes such as clean energy transition, digital innovation, and policy development, aimed at strengthening Abu Dhabi’s energy ecosystem through government and private sector collaboration.
